Ethereum’s move from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake was believed to be one of the most significant events in cryptocurrency’s relatively short history. Ethereum’s price hasn’t reflected the significance, as it currently trades for $1,386.05, down 7.4% in the past 30 days. Although the price has dropped, in the long term, many analysts, pundits, and investors believe Ethereum’s move to proof-of-stake will work out in the long term for the second largest cryptocurrency. However, on the contrary, there are those who believe Ethereum’s merge will only enhance its centralized nature, and now leave Bitcoin as the only true decentralized cryptocurrency. In an interview with Bankless, the Founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin refuted the idea of centralization slowing down Ethereum’s growth long term. Vitalik pointed out that over 50% of Bitcoin is controlled by 2 or 3 mining pools, stating that it's not as decentralized as most think. Vitalik then went on to discuss what he sees coming with Ethereum and what to expect.
